When making birthday cards or looking for inspiration for other cardmaking ideas, look to the web. You can find free clip art on Microsoft's website if you search for "Microsoft clip art".

For this handmade card making project, I found an image of a group of presents. Sometimes you'll find an image already colored in but if you don't like the colors, you can remove them if it's a file type that can be revised.

I revised the image using Microsoft's Powerpoint software for this birthday card design. To do this in Powerpoint, you have to select the image, "ungroup" it and delete the layers of colors. But if you like the colors already on the image, then it makes assembling your card easier.

Once the colors were removed, I added a sentiment at the top of the image and chose my own colors to color the presents using chalk ink.

When you make birthday cards or most any cards for that matter, don't forget to add ribbon. Sometimes your paper card making designs don't require ribbon but I can't seem to leave it out. The border under the plaid ribbon is done using a border punch.
